Fencing Classes for Spring 09 |

The Fencing Illini and the Point Fencing Club are pleased to offer new classes this spring! While we are offering our standard beginner classes (I-III), we are offering brand-new intermediate classes (IV-VI) for those who have completed Fencing III. Below is a summary of our classes. Fencing I, II, III
| Basic footwork, offensive actions, defensive actions and introduction to bouting | | Target: | New Fencers
| | Schedule | Mondays, 7:30–8:30 pm, for three 4-week sessions weeks starting January 26 and ending April 20(no class on March 23)
| Cost
| Club members—free (plus, get 3 sessions for the price of 2 if you register for all three sessions at once!); non-members—$70 per 4-week session | Equipment

Fencing IV, V, and VI
| | Application of refined footwork, blade work, and timing to advanced, realistic bouting situations | Target
| Continuing fencers, especially graduates of
Fencing III
| Schedule
| Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm for three 2-week sessions starting January 20 and ending February 24
| Cost
| Club members—$25 per 2 week session (get all three 2 week sessions for the price of 2 if you register for all three sessions at once! $50); non-members—$175
| Equipment
| Your own electric foil and body cord are required; a lame is recommended, and will reduce your class fee by $10.00 if you provide your own. We can help you order equipment, including a club discount; please contact Michael Vitoux at The Point no later than January 15th

The Fencing Illini competed recently at the Big Ten Duels in 2008 held at Northwestern University. We had a smaller roster for this meet, so several squads were incomplete. We are still extremely proud of all of our understaffed squads for performing very well, especially Erik Hasenberg who lost only six bouts the entire day as our lone men's saberist. Men's Foil was our only complete squad for the day and we were very happy with our results, especially with our few close wins at the end of the day.
